Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy is finally set to join the Telangana Cabinet. He has been vocal for months about wanting a Cabinet position, and now the Congress high command seems ready to deliver on its promise.
The Jubilee Hills by-election turned out to be lucky for Azharuddin, who is also being inducted into the Cabinet. Party insiders say Rajagopal Reddy may take oath on Friday, as part of a long-delayed reshuffle.
If this happens, Azharuddin will handle minority affairs, while Rajagopal Reddy is expected to take charge of the municipal ministry. CM Revanth Reddy had been keen on including a minority representative in his team for some time. Shabbir Ali, Feroz Khan, and Azharuddin were considered, but the high command chose Azharuddin for his strong connection with minority voters ahead of the local body elections.
The move also aims to calm Munugodu MLA Rajagopal Reddy, who recently made sharp remarks about Revanth Reddy. With two positions filled, one more berth is likely to go to a BC leader, according to party insiders.
