Rajya Sabha elections turn interesting!

The election of 6th Rajya Sabha seat from Andhra Pradesh just got more interesting. While Congress and TDP just confined to field 5 members together, K Kesava Rao from TRS and Chaitanya Raju as Independent entered the fray. KK will be representing Telangana sentiment while Chaitanya Raju will stand for Samayikya Andhra in the contest and needless to say MLAs across the parties resort to cross voting to stamp their region’s authority.

On the other side, each Rajya Sabha nominee will require 31 votes of MLAs to get elected. Parties usually assign some number of MLAs to each of its candidate so that nothing goes wrong. So, the entire process usually goes smoothly. But this tactics may back fire this time as MLAs resort to cross voting to TRS candidate or Independent. So, Congress who has 120 odd MLAs and TDP which has 70 odd MLAs did not field extra candidate as the extra MLAs they have might come in handy just in case cross voting happens.
