Cinema and politics are two parallel worlds. Ideally, one shouldn’t influence the other. But that isn’t the case in the modern era.
Like for instance, there is Ram Gopal Varma who acts in the interests of YCP chief YS Jagan. Just before the AP elections, he made films like Lakshmi’s NTR and Amma Rajyam Lo Kadapa Biddalu with the sole intention of slinging mud at TDP.
It got to an extent where he even had a face-to-face meeting with Jagan very recently. He is set to do another film before the 2024 elections to try and sling mud at TDP.
Now there’s another director, this time around, in Bollywood who, netizens are calling a pro-BJP filmmaker. He is Vivek Agnihotri.
Vivek released The Kashmir Files earlier this year. Setting aside the cinematic brilliance and novelty of the film, it did manage to wreck havoc at the box office. During the time of its release, netizens opined that BJP is firmly pushing the film and helping it get good revenues as it validates their interests.
Now, Vivek is back at it again with another film – The Vaccine War which is in production. Netizens have already come to the conclusion that this film will be in the interests of the BJP government. They’re saying that this film might only show BJP in good light in the context of Covid vaccine development in India. Will that be the case? We have to wait and see.
