The sudden demise of Ratan Tata has created a void in Tata Trust’s leadership. Since his passing, there were several members in contention to become the successor of Ratan Tata as the Chairman of Tata Trusts.
Finally, it was Ratan’s half-brother, Noel Tata, has been unanimously appointed as the new Chairman of Tata Trusts. Noel, the Vice Chairman of Tata Steel and Titan, is the son of Ratan Tata’s stepmother, Simone Tata.
Noel has been associated with the Tata Group since 2000, playing a key role in various leadership capacities. Currently, Venu Srinivasan, Vijay Singh, and Mehli Mistry are also part of the executive committee of Tata Trusts.
Ratan Tata’s younger brother, Jimmy Tata, has never been involved in the family business. He lives quietly in a modest apartment in Colaba, South Mumbai. Hence, they have brought in Noel Tata as the successor of Ratan Tata.
Ratan Tata, born in 1937 into a traditional Parsi family, was raised by his grandmother after his parents, Naval and Suni Tata, divorced when he was just 10.
