Ratan Tata, the legendary Indian industrialist, has not only made a mark as a business tycoon but also experienced a deeply personal love story that ended in disappointment. In the 1960s, after completing his studies, Tata began working in an architecture firm in Los Angeles, where he fell in love with a woman and the two planned to marry.
However, during his visit to India to care for his ailing grandmother, the 1962 India-China war disrupted their plans. His girlfriend’s parents, fearing the instability in India, refused to let her join him, causing their relationship to end.
While Ratan Tata has often shared this story, he has never revealed the identity of the woman. Following this, there were rumors of a relationship with Simi Garewal, a famous actress from Bollywood in the 1970s. Although their bond was strong and many hoped it would culminate in marriage, it didn’t work out, and Simi eventually married someone else.
Ratan Tata himself has spoken about how he was ready for marriage four different times, but each time, unforeseen circumstances prevented it. Despite these experiences, Tata has embraced a life of solitude, choosing to remain a bachelor, and focusing on his professional achievements and philanthropic efforts.
