During his rule, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy spent around Rs. 500 crores to build a lavish palace on Rushikonda Hill in Vishakapatnam.
Although his government called it a tourist resort, everyone knows it was meant to be Jagan’s camp office.
The interior and furniture work for the palace is still unfinished. Believing that the YCP would return to power, these works were delayed.
According to the agreement, the project is to be completed by November 14th this year. This is an extended deadline after missing the first one.
However, the contractor’s camp office has now disappeared from the project site. It is said that the project contract was given to a YCP leader. Over Rs. 400 crores have been paid to the contractor during the palace’s construction.
A temporary camp office was built in containers at the project site. Now, as the palace landed in legal issues, the camp office has disappeared.
A total of seven buildings were built in four blocks on the hill. Furniture work is pending for Jagan’s Vijayanagara Palace 1, 2, and 3.
Meanwhile, cases are ongoing against the Rushikonda Palace in the AP High Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT).
The High Court, after examining a report on the site, stated that there were illegal excavations and violations during construction.
The Ministry of Forest and Environment appointed another committee to take action based on this report. The committee’s chairman died suddenly just before submitting the report.
This report is expected by the end of this month. After that, the High Court is expected to give its verdict.
