
After much suspense and probably lot of contemplation, the BJP has decided on the AP Rajya Sabha candidate. The seat fell vacant after ex YSRCP leader Vijaysai Reddy resigned from the seat, much before his tenure ended.
Recently when AP CM Chandrababu Naidu was in New Delhi, he met up with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and TDP extended its support to the saffron party.

In the past, two YSRCP members resigned from their RS seats and both seats were filled by TDP. This time around, BJP which is its alliance partner wanted the seat.
There were stories in media that the BJP might go for ex minister Smriti Irani who lost Lok Sabha elections or ex TN BJP state president Annamalai. The name of MRPS leader Mandakrishna Madiga also did rounds for a while. However, contrary to reports, the BJP has decided on RSS leader Paka Venkata Satyanarayana from Bheemavaram.
