Seat-Sharing: Crucial Second Step For Chandrababu!

TDP-Chandrababu-Naidu-Amit-Shah-BJP

The Political Atmosphere in Andhra Pradesh is conducive for the Telugu Desam Party. But Chandrababu Naidu is not in the mood to take risks and is fortifying TDP further with alliances.

After the alliance with Janasena, Chandrababu is in talks for the alliance with BJP to deny the Central Government support to Jagan Mohan Reddy like how it happened in the 2019 elections.

But then, Seat-sharing is very important for any alliance to succeed. Janasena and BJP lack proper machinery and electioneering strategies at the grassroots. So, if they are given more seats, the YSR Congress can run over them.

With its traditional strong seats in Rayalaseema and these run-over seats, YSR Congress’s target will be easy.

So, the Seat-sharing should be done very carefully.

Chandrababu succeeded in dealing with Janasena. Twenty-four MLA seats and three MP seats for Janasena are very good. Further, a majority of those seats are in Godavari districts and Vishakapatnam where the party is relatively strong.

The real task for Chandrababu is with the BJP. Modi and Shah are known for bullying allies. They will press for more seats and if they are given, it is like gifting those seats on a platter to YSR Congress.

The buzz is that the BJP is asking for 10 Assembly seats and seven Parliament seats.

Chandrababu is trying to confine Janasena and BJP to 30 Assembly seats and Seven Parliament seats. That means the BJP will get six Assembly and four MP seats.

Having more MPs is also crucial because the YSR Congress has a very good number of MPs in Rajya Sabha. They can lobby with the Center with those seats even by sitting in the Opposition. Thus Jagan can get immunity from the CBI and the ED.

If TDP has more MPs, they can reduce the Rajya Sabha MPs of YSR Congress in the coming years and can have their influence on the Central Government in funds.

If Chandrababu manages to convince the BJP high command of his number, only then he will succeed completely.
