Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, a five-time MLA from Panyam constituency in Kurnool district who is currently in BJP is looking to quit the party and join the ruling Telugu Desam Party. With his entry, the party is looking to consolidate in Banaganpalle, Panyam, and Koilkuntla and Dhone constituencies.

Katasani is not happy with BJP as he claims the party had not been giving him the priority. While YSR Congress offered him Nandhyal MP in 2019, Katasani is more tempted to TDP’s offer of Panyam seat in the next elections.
Kurnool district is a bastion for YSR Congress and they have won majority seats here in the last elections. But then, TDP is regrouping here since the last elections with leaders of other parties joining one after the other. This latest joining may hurt BJP big time.
