Remember the Pranay, Amrutha case? It’s almost five years since the honour killing took place. But the horror story remains fresh in the minds of people.
Today, the Judge of the 2nd Additional Special Court for SC, ST, Roja Ramani gave a final judgement in the case.

A2 accused Subash Sharma was sentenced to death by hanging. The six others got life sentences.
At the time, Pranay-Amrutha honour killing case created a huge sensation in Telugu states following the brutal murder of Pranay who belonged to a lower community and lower economic strata. Amrutha belonged to a business community.

Amrutha’s father was against her friendship that started in school and their subsequent wedding. Despite being advised/ warned not to mingle with Pranay, Amrutha and Pranay went on to get married in Hyderabad without the consent of her father.
The couple then returned to Miryalaguda. However, Pranay was killed in broad daylight when Pranay-Amrutha were coming out of a hospital after pre-natal check-up of Amrutha who was five months pregnant at the time.

The police arrested Amrutha’s father Tirunagari Maruthi Rao, contract killer from Bihar Subash Kumar alias Sharma, Azgar Ali, MD Abdul Bari, Abdul Kareem, Maruti Rao’s brother Sravan Kumar and Samudrala Siva, Maruthi Rao’s driver.
It is known that as the case was progressing, prime accused in the case Maruthi Rao committed suicide.
Today, the family of Pranay finally gets justice.
