The government of Telangana started rolling out the crop-loan waiver scheme today. This was one of the six promises made by the Congress party during the assembly elections in the state.
Initially, the government will clear the loans of farmers up to Rs. 1 lakh by releasing around Rs. 6800 crores. The government will clear the loans up to Rs. 2 lakh before August 15. According to the reports, around 11 lakh families would be benefitted from this scheme.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy held a meeting with cabinet ministers and MLAs yesterday at Praja Bhavan before implementing the scheme.
He stated that many people opined that it would be difficult to waive all crop loans but the government is going to implement the scheme successfully by beating all odds.

The beneficiary farmers would get messages from the banks this evening stating that their money has been credited successfully.
Revanth Reddy asked all his leaders to celebrate this occasion like a festival in villages across the state and convey to people that the congress party has successfully fulfilled one of its promises made during elections.

He also stated that no state in the country has spent Rs. 31,000 crore on a crop loan waiver scheme. It was added that six lakh families without ration cards would also get their amount.
Revanth clarified that the land passbook of farmers would be used to disburse the amount and the ration card would be used only to identify a farmer’s family.
On the other side, the DSC exams have also commenced today and will be held till August 5. Around 2.8 lakh students are appearing for these exams, which are being held after a gap of seven years.
A total of 11,060 teacher posts will be held through these exams. Govt Job recruitments was also one of the six promises made by the Congress Party.
On the whole, Revanth and his government managed to fulfill two major promises made during elections within seven months of coming into power.
