New Orders By Supreme Court: Viveka Case

Supreme Court Viveka case hearing

The Supreme Court of India has issued fresh directions in the Viveka case. While examining whether further investigation is necessary, the Apex Court laid down clear guidelines for the next course of action.

The court clarified that if additional inquiry is required, the names of individuals to be taken into custody for questioning must be clearly specified. It stressed that vague directions should be avoided during further proceedings.

The Supreme Court also stated that guidelines issued by the trial court must be strictly followed. It said further progress in the case should adhere to those directions without deviation.

In addition, the court issued new instructions to the Central Bureau of Investigation. It asked the agency to complete interrogation at the earliest. The court clarified that the process should not be unnecessarily stretched to a full month.

The Apex Court pointed out that these instructions were already part of the trial court’s earlier orders. It directed the CBI to follow them as they stand. Compliance was emphasised.

The case relates to the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy. He was killed on March 15, 2019, at his residence in Pulivendula.

In this case, Gangireddy has been named as A1, while Sunil Yadav is A2. Viveka’s daughter has been consistently demanding a thorough and in-depth inquiry.

At present, the case is being heard in a CBI special court in Hyderabad. The Supreme Court’s latest directions are expected to influence the pace of the investigation.
