Supreme Court Refuses To Cancel CBN‘s Bail

Chandrababu Naidu Supreme Court

It is known that the AP government had approached the Supreme Court to cancel the anticipatory bail that was granted to Chandrababu in the Inner Ring Road case by the AP High Court.

The apex court heard the case today and rejected the petition filed by the AP government and upheld the anticipatory bail that was earlier granted by the AP High Court.

The SC opined that the anticipatory bail doesn’t interfere with the investigation process and there is no reason to cancel it. It is further added that whatever regulations have been issued for other accused in the case shall be applicable to Babu also.

The AP government argued that the IPC 420 section is applicable in this case and the SC asked for an explanation on the same. The apex court mentioned that other accused in the case are not in jail and there is no problem with CBN being free as well.

The AP CID had named Chandrababu and Nara Lokesh in the IRR case. After the AP High Court granted anticipatory bail to CBN in the case, the government moved the Supreme Court but to no avail here either.
