The Telugu Desam Party has remained one of the prominent political forces in Andhra Pradesh for more than four decades. The party is now going through a transition towards younger leadership, with Nara Lokesh playing an increasingly visible role.
Lokesh has also been presenting himself as a leader focused on the priorities of the younger generation. His recent remarks about Gen Z and the issues that matter to them have added to that image.
When asked about the current needs of Gen Z, Lokesh gave a direct response. The Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister said the younger generation does not need politics centred on region or caste, but wants systems that can improve their quality of life.
His comments come amid an ongoing political debate over identity, development and employment in Andhra Pradesh. The DSC teacher recruitment controversy has also become a major point of confrontation between the TDP government and the YSRCP.
Lokesh has defended the DSC recruitment process and challenged the YSRCP over its allegations. He said more than 300 cases had been filed in connection with the DSC issue but claimed that not a single allegation had been proved so far.
The YSRCP, however, has continued to raise concerns over the recruitment process. The party has questioned the government’s handling of the DSC issue and demanded further action.
The DSC controversy therefore remains a significant political issue between Nara Lokesh and the YSRCP. While Lokesh has defended the recruitment process, the opposition continues to challenge the government’s position.
At the same time, Lokesh’s comments about Gen Z show his focus on connecting the TDP’s political messaging with the priorities of younger people. His remarks on youth expectations and the ongoing DSC debate have kept him at the centre of the political discussion in Andhra Pradesh.
