Supreme Court a little while ago made some key movements in the defections going on in Telangana. Congress Party had knocked the door of the Supreme Court alleging that the Speaker is intentionally delaying the decision of the defected MLAs. Supreme Court has decided to refer the issue to Constitutional Bench.

Attorney General represented Telangana government in this case and informed the court that the disqualification and defection petitions are in the purview of the Speaker and the courts can not interfere in this issue at this stage. The Apex Court asked what should be done if the Speaker is unreasonably delaying a decision.
The court also came up with the question what should be done if the defections are not as per the law. Considering all this, the Apex Court referred the issue to the Constitutional Bench. If the constitutional bench provides a solution for this, it will have an impact on the politics in both the states and even across the country.
