The Railway Budget tabled this morning resulted in severe disappointment for both the Telugu States. Both the state governments have competed with each other in giving representations for several demands but not even one of them is adhered. The major demands like Special Railway Zone for AP and Wagon factory and Kazipet divisions were not granted.

These demands are ages old but are once again ignored. Both the state governments offered to share the expenses of the new projects but the center did not pay them heed. The only respite is that pending projects in both the states will be executed with state governments having to bear 51% of the total expenses.
As in the case of the previous budget, Suresh Prabhu did not announce even a single new train. AP particularly pinned high hopes on new trains so as to better the transportation options to the upcoming capital of the state to remaining areas. Only a frieght corridor from Nagpur to Vijayawada, which no one knows when it will be complete is announced to AP. And another AP mention in the budget is beautification of Tirupati station along with other Pilgrim stations.
