India Today’s Mood of the Nation survey has painted a shocking picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Popularity. Narendra Modi is the popular choice for the next Prime Minister of India for 66% of the respondents in 2020 August.
The same survey when conducted in 2021 August reveals that only 24% think Modi should be the next Prime Minister. That’s a sharp decline. The COVID-19 handling and the economic crisis that followed has taken severe beating on Modi’s image.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the next popular candidate for the Prime Minister post with 11% choosing him. BJP will breathe easy as Rahul Gandhi is only the third most popular leader with just 10% people preferring him to be the next Prime Minister.
But then the decline of Narendra Modi’s Popularity should worry them more than anything else. If the pandemic does not come under control, it will be further trouble for BJP.
