Nellore district is one of the weakest segments of the Telugu Desam Party. In 2019, the party didn’t win a single seat in the entire Nellore district. But things are looking very promising in the build up for the next election.
Nara Lokesh’s Yuvagalam Yatra entered Nellore recently and the massive turnout everywhere Lokesh is setting foot is pleasantly shocking TDP leaders as well.
In this connection, we are hearing that there are survey reports that are predicting a clear swing for TDP in Nellore city and rural constituencies.
YSRCP rebel MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar is to be fielded from TDP in Nellore Rural which was formed only in 2009. TDP didn’t win from here a single time since. But this time Kotamreddy will be contesting on TDP ticket and he is a clear winner, it seems.
As for Nellore city, Ponguru Narayana is the TDP candidate. He carried out a lot of development projects in Nellore city between 2014 and 19 as the then MA & UD Minister. But he lost to YCP’s Anil Yadav by a slender margin in 2019 polls. In the next election, Narayana is expected to be favoured by the anti wave on Anil and YCP in general.
The survey reports are predicting a clear anti incumbency wave in the Nellore district, much like other parts of Andhra Pradesh. Meaning, YCP’s stronghold, Nellore district could be slipping away in the coming election.
