Swiggy and Zomato are the biggest online food delivery platforms in India. They have a presence in all states of the country. Meanwhile, Siwggy is now facing backlash from restaurant and food outlet owners in Andhra Pradesh.
The association of restaurants and hotels have decided to boycott Swiggy from October 12. The decision has been taken as Swiggy failed to make timely payments to restaurants and other food outlets.
It was stated that restaurants have been facing losses due to Swiggy and Zomato’s untimely payments. Hotels Association President RV Swamy and Committee Convenor Ramana Rao stated that talks were held with both platforms earlier regarding the concerns but only Zomato agreed to the demands and conditions of restaurant owners.
As Swiggy didn’t agree to the terms and conditions, the Hotels Association decided to stop their sales from the platform from October 14.
Boycotting Swiggy could have a major impact, as it might affect hotel sales, and on the other hand, losing a state could harm Swiggy as well. It remains to be seen if the issue will be resolved amicably.
