The TDP, BJP alliance has shown its strength in Andaman Nicobar islands. TDP’s S Shahul Hameed won as the chairperson of Vijayapuram.
In 2022-23 elections, no one party secured majority, so the BJP and TDP formed an alliance and it was decided that each will have the chairperson’s post on a rotational basis every year.

In the first year, BJP member was the chairperson. In the second year, TDP candidate was the chairperson. However, in the third year, Congress candidate won due to political changes.
In 2025-26 elections, the TDP member Hameed won with the support of an independent member. In the 24 votes, Hameed secured 15 votes and became the chairperson overthrowing the Congress chairperson.

In Andaman Nicobar Islands, elections are held for chairperson’s seat every year irrespective of who has majority. Hameed expressed his gratitude to TDP national president and Andaman incharge V Madhavanaidu, BJP national president Ajoy Bairagi and Nicobar TDP national president S Manikya Rao Yadav.
AP CM Chandrababu expressed his happiness over Hameed winning as the Sri Vijayapuram municipality chairperson. He thanked the cadre in Andaman Nicobar.
