Not less than 24 hours after making announcement of plans to link up Aadhar to loan waiver to eliminate malpractices like taking multiple loans on same land and taking loans with fake pass books, TDP government in Andhra Pradesh withdrew the idea. Prathipati Pulla Rao, the state agriculture minister confirmed that he did not tell that they are going to use Aadhar but only said that Aadhar can be used for the purpose.
He confirmed that government will not be using Aadhar Cards but will find alternate methods to identify malpractices. TDP and BJP sternly criticized Aadhar Card concept while in the opposition.So, opposition will not spare them if they use Aadhar for this purpose. Also in the past, Supreme Court had directed governments not to use Aadhar cards for financial issues. We will have to see how the government carries out this now!
