TDP Minister – Ashok Gajapathi Raju, the Civil Aviation Minister in Modi cabinet is showing his mark reforms in the segment. Air Segment is plagued by several useless rules which makes sure the end users are exploited. There are complaints over them for decades together but no government or minister managed to change them.

Ashok Gajapathi Raju not yielding to the pressure of Private Airlines brought radical changes which are being welcomed by air passengers across the country. Twitteratti is heaping praises on Ashok Gajapathi Raju for these new reforms. Way to Go!
Here are some of those:
Excess baggage of upto 5 kg beyond 15 kg not to be charged at more than Rs 100/- per kg
Regulations being amended to ensure significant improvement in facilities to persons with disabilities
In case of flight cancellations announced within 24 hours of departure, compensation amount enhanced to upto INR 10,000/-
Compensation significantly enhanced to upto INR 20,000/- in case of denied boarding due to over-booking.
Cancellation amount cannot exceed basic fare and there shall be no additional charge to process the refund
Refunds to be applicable on all fares including promo and special fares
It shall be the prerogative of passenger to decide whether to get cash refund or hold the amount in credit
All taxes, levies and User / Airport development fees etc shall be refunded in case of no-show and cancellations
Even when booked through travel agents / online portals, Airlines shall have to ensure refunds within 15 days to domestic passengers
