Ranabaali marks the second collaboration between director Rahul Sankrityan and Vijay Deverakonda. Set against a period backdrop, the trailer shows the team’s intent to tell a different kind of story, and that sincerity comes through.
However, a film like this needs to build excitement and leave a strong impression by the end of its trailer. That spark is missing big time. The technical departments do their job, but their work doesn’t create a standout feel, at least in this trailer cut.
The Ranabaali trailer reinforces the impression left by the teaser: Vijay’s look and slang feel underwhelming, and the energy needed to elevate the trailer is missing. There’s plenty of brutality on screen, but it fails to make you feel anything.
Overall, the intent is clear, but the intensity and the impact is missing. Still, we’ve seen only three minutes from a nearly three-hour film. Let’s hope Ranabaali delivers in theatres.
