TDP MLA Arrest Attempt: HC’s Strong Warning

The government of Andhra Pradesh and AP CID already faced public backlash over the questionable arrest of Chandrababu Naidu. Now, they have made another similar attempt to arrest a TDP MLA and as a result, faced the wrath of the AP high court.

This happened after TDP MLA Yeluri Sambasiva Rao applied for anticipated bail at the AP High Court, fearing an illicit arrest by AP police in a case that was filed in a mining regulatory procedure recently.

After hearing the case, the court stated “If MLAs and MPs are scared of police action and arrest, what is the condition of commoners? You are mandated to give 41A notice to representatives in case the potential sentence is less than 7 years. How can you try to arrest an MLA without the notice?”.

The court gave a strong warning to the officers involved by saying that if the regulations are not followed, the respective officers will be sentenced to jail according to law.

The court mentioned “Perhaps, you will learn a lesson only after a couple of officers go to jail for not following 41A notice regulation.” The case was later adjourned to hearing on Tuesday.
