Telangana Government had issued a directive regarding the waiving of farmers loans in the state to the extent of 1 Lakh per family. It is one of the prime poll promises of TRS just before the elections. However the government did not divulge details like who among farmers will be eligible for the waiver and to what crops it is applicable. The promise will cost 19000 Crores to Telangana government. Recently Reserve Bank of India had agreed for loan rescheduling in 100 mandals of Telangana in three districts and this loan rescheduling will provide respite up to 4000 Crores.
It is said that the government wants to auctions some unused lands in the capital region and its surroundings to acquire funds for the remaining. This move of the government will bring in a lot of relief for the farmers of the state who are reeling under the pressure of financial crises. At the same time, this will put pressure on the neighbouring state Chief Minister Chandra Babu who made a similar but bigger promise (1.5 Lakhs per family) there.
