Telangana -Government -To Override Center Yet AgainThe Ministry of Home Affairs, the other day, released a new guideline to allow the movement of migrant workers, tourists, students, etc. stranded at various places. All stranded people can return to their home towns after undergoing strict medical screening both at the source and destination cities.

States must also organize thermal testing units and quarantine facilities for all those who are stranded, in order to clear asymptomatic cases, before sending them back. However, the movement of migrants, tourists, and students will be restricted to non-containment zones.

Telangana Government is upset with this relaxation. Minister Talasani Yadav ridiculed that the Central Government is just trying to wash off its hands by announcing guidelines. “It is not easy to ferry migrants in buses. The Center should arrange trains to vacate them. There are around 15 Lakhs of migrant workers belonging to the other states. It will take three to five days to reach some states on buses. So, the center should take this responsibility,” the minister said.

Sources say that the state government may not allow the migrants if the center does not come forward. Telangana Government earlier did not implement various relaxations given by the Central Government and is implementing the complete Lockdown. It looks like that is going to be the norm forward.
