Telangana to See Rise in Micro Breweries

Telangana excise policy boosts breweries

Hyderabad is set to witness a boom in micro breweries as per the state’s new excise guidelines. Beer will soon be available not only in wine shops but also in hotels, restaurants, tiffin centers, and tourist spots across Telangana.

According to the rules, anyone with 1,000 sq ft of space can apply for a license by paying ₹1 lakh. The excise department clarified that there is no cap on applications as long as guidelines are met, encouraging wider participation.

Permissions are being granted not only in Hyderabad’s GHMC and surrounding urban areas but also in other municipal corporations like Nizamabad, Warangal, Khammam, Adilabad, Mahbubnagar, and Karimnagar. This ensures statewide expansion of micro breweries.

Officials believe the policy will not only meet the rising demand for craft beer but also encourage innovation in brewing. In addition, it will generate significant revenues for the Telangana government while boosting tourism and urban lifestyle.
