Telangana No More TS, TG Soon!

Revanth Reddy

Telangana State, identified by the code TS on vehicle registration plates, initially had the option of choosing between TS and TG, with the Central government leaning towards TG in 2014.

However, then Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao insisted on TS, citing numerological reasons, and the change was officially sanctioned.

Fast forward to the present, under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the decision is revisited. During his election campaign, Revanth Reddy pledged to switch from TS to TG if Congress came to power, and true to his word, Telangana vehicles will soon bear the TG code.

This move echoes the sentiments of the Telangana movement, where KCR had urged people to replace AP with TG on registration plates. But after the state bifurcation, he went with TS instead of TG.

The decision to revert to TG signifies a revival of Telangana sentiment. Revanth Reddy, aligning with the public’s emotions, aims to fulfill promises made during the campaign. He plans to make ‘Jaya Jayahe Telangana’ the official state anthem and modify the vehicle registration code from TS to TG.
