Largest flag costs a bomb to Telangana

Telangana spends 2 Crore for India's largest flagTelangana goverment the other day had sanctioned Rs 1.96 crore to set up India’s largest national flag on the tallest mast at Sanjeevaiah Park alongside the Hussainsagar, which will be unveiled by Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao on June 2, second anniversary of the state’s formation.

1.32 Crore will go to the Kolkata-based Skipper Construction Company which has got the contract of installing the flag and the rest for the civil works. Currently, the 66-feet by 99-feet flag which stands on a 293-feet mast at Ranchi holds the record of being country’s largest national flag.

The Chief Minister has directed officials to set up a taller pole than the one at Ranchi, at 303 feet. The number (3+3) adds to KCR’s lucky number six. The roads and buildings department will be supervising the works. Officials are planning to begin the work very soon and complete it in two weeks time.
