It has been more than nine months since the Congress party came to power in Telangana under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, but a few cabinet ministry posts still remain unallocated.
On December 7, 2023, along with Revanth Reddy, 11 other MLAs took oath as cabinet ministers. Now, six posts are vacant in the cabinet.

Key ministries such as Home Affairs, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Education, and Mining are still being handled by Revanth Reddy. Several senior MLAs are trying for these vacant ministry positions and aiming to secure influential roles in the cabinet.
Earlier, reports suggested that the cabinet expansion would happen after the Lok Sabha elections, but it didn’t. It was later rumoured to happen before August 15, but again, no expansion took place. Now, the latest reports suggest that the expansion will happen soon, though it remains to be seen if it will materialize this time.

Revanth Reddy is travelling to Delhi today and is expected to meet with the high command of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) tomorrow. Cabinet expansion is expected to be a major topic of discussion during this visit.
With the appointment of nominated posts, MLC positions, and the selection of the PCC chief already completed, cabinet expansion is the last major task for the Congress party. Thus, it is widely speculated to be on Revanth’s agenda during this trip.
