Tension prevailed in Tenali on Tuesday after the removal of flexis triggered a confrontation. Local TDP cadre clashed with municipal authorities over the issue, creating unrest in the area. Heated arguments between both sides quickly escalated the situation.
Flexis of TDP MLC Alapati Raja were installed on a divider at Wahab Chowk. Municipal officials removed the flexis, which angered local TDP leaders. They confronted the officials and staged a dharna against the municipal staff.
During the protest, TDP leaders raised slogans and questioned the officials over the removal. Neither side was willing to step back, leading to a tense standoff. The situation resulted in traffic disruptions around Wahab Chowk.
Alapati Rajendra Prasad, also known as Alapati Raja, had earlier contested as MLA from Vemuru and Tenali. He also served as a minister in the TDP Cabinet during the party’s previous tenure.
In the 2024 elections, Tenali constituency was allotted to Jana Sena under the coalition arrangement. Nadendla Manohar won the seat and became a minister. Alapati Raja is currently serving as an MLC amid past speculation over denied MLA candidature.
