Telugu Desam Party is doing one of the biggest insurance schemes by any Political Party in the country.
The party has a Five Lakh Rupees Accidental Insurance Cover for all of its One Crore members.
The other day, Nara Lokesh announced that he would increase the insurance coverage further.
TDP is the only political party in the country that is providing insurance security to as many as one crore activists. It was also the first party to start such a scheme in the country.
The party paid Rs 42 crore as the first premium for providing insurance to the party activists for the full year beginning January 1, 2025, till December 31, 2025.
In the last five years, the cadre was helped to the tune of 135 Crores.
In contrast, YSR Congress, despite being headed by the Richest Politician in the country, does not have a similar scheme.
The Party did not even conduct a Membership drive in recent years.
With his immense wealth, Jagan Mohan Reddy can offer free insurance to the cadre without charging a single penny.
But he did not make any such attempt.
Insurance is a myth in a country like India. Insurance penetration in India was 3.7% in 2023-24, down from 4.2% in 2021-22.
This insurance for just 100 Rupees Membership will be a boon for those who use it.
It is also an assurance for the people who hold it.
If a family loses its head, this amount will come to the rescue of the remaining.
That way, TDP gets a place in the lives of the people.
Even common people have enrolled in the party for its benefit. In some places, where the cadre are daily wage laborers and could not even afford that One Hundred Rupees, Party MLAs and Incharges paid the amount and took the membership.
That is how you build a connection with the people.
Imagine the loyalty the party earns when someone is helped. At least now, Jagan Mohan Reddy should think of something of that sort to help the cadre that is with him in thick and thin.
