TRS gets a big boost in Khammam!
Khammam district in Telangana has a unique place in the history. The district is called ‘Poratala Puriti Gadda’ and is a strong hold for communists. Telangana Rashtra Samiti is eyeing this district for a long time but is not able to enter this district. In fact, as a part of alliances, TRS never contested in Khammam so far. So the party has no presence here. However, the party got a big boost there now.

Jalagam Venkat Rao, son of Jalagam Vengal Rao former Chief Minister has joined TRS. Vengal Rao commands huge respect from Khammam farmers as he is the reason for bringing canal water to Khammam. Venkat Rao was earlier in Congress. He was expelled from the party after he contested 2009 elections as Independent. Even though he did not win that election, he got 45000+ votes. He later joined YSR Congress but now decided to join TRS. He will be contesting from Khammam or Kothagudem.
