TRS Kavitha Gets Six Months Imprisonment

TRS MP Maloth Kavitha - KCRTRS MP from Mahbubabad, Maloth Kavitha has been convicted for bribing voters during the 2019 general election. A special sessions court for MP & MLA cases at Nampally convicted the MP and her associate and sentenced them to undergo six-month imprisonment.

However, they were granted bail to file an appeal before a higher court against the conviction. During the 2019 elections, the MP’s aide Shaukat Ali has been caught by a flying squad while distributing cash to voters. In the investigation, Ali admitted doing that at the MP’s behest.

This is not the first time the people’s representatives in Telangana were convicted for bribing the voters. The special court earlier awarded jail terms to BJP MLA Raja Singh and TRS MLA Danam Nagender. Both of them appealed in the high court over the judgment.

Maloth Kavitha polled 46.98% votes in that election and won with a majority of 1,46,663 votes over her nearest rival, Balram Naik of Congress
