Nellore district is one district that has had absolute dominance of the YSR Congress ever since the party’s inception. Prakasam district is also a stronghold but TDP surprised everyone by winning three seats even in Jagan’s wave in 2019.
Things are looking bright for TDP in both districts due to anti-incumbency this time. And then, Jagan’s mistakes are helping TDP big time.
It looks like Ongole MP Magunta Sreenivasula Reddy and Rajya Sabha MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy are certain to leave the party.
Magunta is likely to meet Chandrababu Naidu today in Hyderabad. Vemireddy is also likely to join TDP in a day or two.
Leaders like Balineni were keen on having Magunta as Ongole MP but Jagan refused him the ticket.
Jagan wants Vemireddy to contest as Nellore MP. However the CM not considering him in deciding candidates for some of the constituencies under the Parliamentary seat did not go well with him. He has become incommunicado with YSR Congress leadership for the past few days.
Both Magunta and Vemireddy are very rich candidates and can fund the parties big time.
Jagan’s mistakes will now prove ‘costly’ for YSR Congress.
Once both of them joins TDP, the party will get a big filip in the South of Coastal Andhra.
