The election mood is already set in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan is busy shuffling the candidates. Even their own party leaders are confused about these changes and are very much worried.

Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha elections are nearing. So far thirty-three sitting MLAs were denied tickets by Jagan. If these MLAs vote for the TDP candidates, then the TDP will win an MP.

If TDP can grab a single MP, it will be a big trouble for Jagan. Losing a single MLC seat in March changed the political narrative in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan can not lose a Rajya Sabha seat just before the elections.

However, the YSR Congress is relieved because Rajya Sabha elections are not secret ballot elections.

MLAs have to show their ballot to the party agent before casting their vote. So YSR Congress feels there is no chance for cross-voting.

But Undavalli says the problem is not over for the YSR Congress.

“According to the rules, the MLAs have to show their ballot paper to the party agent. If they still vote for another candidate, there is nothing in the rule book about what action will be taken on such candidates or the votes,” Undavalli said.

If that is the case, YSR Congress Rebel MLAs may still vote for TDP even after showing the ballot to their party agent.

In such a case, it will be trouble for the YSR Congress.

The Speaker is hurriedly disqualifying the rebel MLAs keeping the Rajya Sabha elections in mind. But then, there are many MLAs on which the YSR Congress can not move the disqualification petition. So, the YSR Congress will have a tough time.
