U.S. Miffed With Rising Number Of Illegal Immigrants From India

illegal-indian-immigrants-usa-Between October and November, the U.S. Border Patrol took into custody 4297 Indians as they were trying to enter the U.S. illegally through the Mexican border. The issue has once again come into the spotlight when a man trying to climb over the wall into Texas fell to death.

The number of people detained this year has been twice the number arrested last year during the same time, both at the border or elsewhere. In the year 2021-22, U.S. authorities found 63,927 Indians who entered the country illegally, which is a 109% increase over the 30,662 found last year.

Though the Biden government has tried to deal with the surge, Indians seem to be slipping into the country via Mexico. As per U.S. law, those discovered or caught should go back to Latin America. However, Mexico refuses to take back the people, and law Title 42 does not apply to Indians and non-Latin Americans.

34, 230 cases are pending with immigration courts as the courts require evidence for granting refuge.
