Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu released a white paper on Amaravati this afternoon at the state secretariat.
During the presentation, Naidu showcased a “Then And Now” video of the situation of various pending works in Amaravati’s capital region.
Back in its rule during 2014-2019, TDP started construction of various buildings in Amaravati such as MLA & MLC Housing, All India Services (AIS) quarters, bungalows of judges, bungalows of ministers, bungalows of Principal Secretaries, HOD and Secretariat buildings, High Court, Housing of Gazetted and Non-Gazetted Officers (NGOs).
Construction of all these buildings came to an indefinite halt after the YSR Congress Party came into power in 2019.
In the last five years, work on these buildings has not progressed at all. As a result, the areas are overgrown with trees, weeds, and stagnant water.
“Since construction was abandoned midway, many buildings have become unstable or damaged,” remarked Chandrababu Naidu.
Had construction continued over the past five years, Amaravati would have been developed well by now. However, due to YCP’s atrocious governance, development stalled, and Chandrababu Naidu had to start all over again.
Chandrababu Naidu stated that YCP betrayed the people of Andhra by damaging Amaravati. He said the Amaravati issue is a case study for anyone considering changing the capital city.
Chandrababu assured that he would ensure justice for the Amaravati farmers who sacrificed their lands for the construction of the capital city.
He promised to rebuild Amaravati from ruins into a global city. By creating wealth and opportunities, he aims to make it a city free of poverty.
Chandrababu said that the works of Amaravati have begun and will proceed in a structured, phased manner in the coming days.
