Vijay Sai Reddy Continues Grudge On Film Industry

Vijay Sai ReddyYSRCP Parliamentary leader VijaySai Reddy has been relatively silent about AP issues since he was elected to Rajya Sabha. He has expressed the opinion that the people of Andhra Pradesh are benefiting from YS Jagan’s welfare schemes and that the state doesn’t require Special Category status, as mentioned in the AP Reorganization Act.

However, during a recent speech in Rajya Sabha in support of the new Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, 2023, VijaySai Reddy veered off-topic and touched on some irrelevant matters not related to the content of the bill. He directed the Union information and broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur to introduce legislation to contain the remuneration of film actors.

VijaySai Reddy quoted Salman Khan as an example, mentioning his high remuneration of around 250 crores per movie when the movie budget is only around 400 crores. The intent behind this was to highlight that star heroes are earning exorbitant amounts while common people pay hefty prices to watch movies.

VijaySai Reddy’s speech seemed to deviate from the purpose of the bill, which aims to tackle film piracy, revamp age-based certification provided by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), and ensure consistency in categorizing films and content across platforms.

He also made an irrelevant remark about why only the sons of heroes become heroes, questioning why heroines cannot emerge from similar backgrounds. However, VijaySai Reddy seems to be unaware of successful heroines like Jahnavi Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, and Sara Ali Khan who have come from well-known film families and star daughters.

Upon observing his 4-minute speech, it appears that VijaySai Reddy displayed some grudge towards the Tollywood film industry. His speech did not directly align with the objectives of the Cinematograph (Amendment) Bill, focusing instead on unrelated matters.
