The recent constant rainfall in Vijayawada severely impacted Budameru Rivulet. Budameru was breached due to the heavy rains, resulting in the overflow of floodwater into nearby areas.
Thus, areas surrounding Budameru have been submerged in water for the past week. Many streets are still underwater. The government has been working relentlessly on relief and rescue operations in these areas.
Recently, officials successfully sealed all three breaches of Budameru and stopped the overflow of floodwater into the nearby areas.
Meanwhile, Vijayawada Municipal Commissioner Dhyanchandra issued a red alert to the areas near Budameru once again this morning.
It was stated that there is consistent rainfall near Budameru, and people are advised to move to safer locations for the time being.
With the continuous rainfall, Budameru is at risk of flooding again at any time. Thus, officials have advised people to relocate immediately until the rainfall decreases.
In particular, people from the Gunadala and Singh Nagar areas are urged to relocate to safer places as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, not only Vijayawada but also many other places across Andhra Pradesh have been experiencing rainfall since yesterday. Especially, the Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam areas are experiencing heavy rainfall.
