Vijayawada West went to the BJP as a part of Seat-sharing between TDP, Janasena, and BJP. Pothina Mahesh from Janasena worked very hard on the ground in the constituency but he did not get a chance.
Mahesh who worked till last minute to pressurize Pawan Kalyan finally gave up and is abusing Pawan Kalyan. Now, it comes to what are the chances of Sujana Chowdary here.
Contesting on BJP ticket will always have its issues in Andhra Pradesh but then, Sujana Chowdary has Pro-TDP image and so vote transfer is easy from that side. We will have to see if the Vote Transfer will be easy from Janasena‘s side.
There are divided opinions on the impact of Pothina Mahesh on Janasena voters. He hails from the BC Community and their population is high in Vijayawada West. There are people who say Pothina Mahesh can not be bigger that Pawan Kalyan. And he without the party symbol may not be an issue.
There is severe anti-incumbency on YSR Congress in the constituency. Sitting MLA Vellampalli Srinivas deserves a book for the Corruption allegations he got during his tenure locals say. To negate the anti-incumbency, Jagan gave ticket to a Muslim Minority here.
Vellampalli himself hails from Vysya Community but the community itself is completely against YSR Congress. They are in significant numbers in the constituency. Sujana Chowdary is obviously way ahead in terms of financial condition.
So, despite the issues, Sujana Chowdary is looking at a fair chance here.
