Uttarandhra region also went Jagan’s way in 2019. The only solace for TDP came from Vishakapatnam City. All four constituencies under the city were bagged by the Telugu Desam Party even though Jagan’s wave gripped the entire state.
However, the reports show that TDP seems to have regained its fort once again.
Multiple Survey reports suggest that the YSR Congress is out of the fray in all the fifteen constituencies of Vizag district except for the ST-reserved constituencies of Araku and Paderu. YSR Congress is clearly ahead in both constituencies.
TDP did not win a single ST-reserved constituency across the state in 2019 as well. In fact, its candidate, the then-sitting Minister lost the deposit in Araku.
YSR Congress also has hopes of winning Madugula and Vishakapatnam North.
But then, the YSR Congress had to send sitting MLA Budi Muthyala Naidu to the Vizianagaram Parliament to save the latter. So, his daughter, Anuradha is contesting from Madugula. So, the contest is wide open here.
Vishakapatnam North is given to the BJP. Vishnu Kumar Raju is contesting from there. YSR Congress believes it is easy to run over him. Vishnu Kumar Raju is confident because of the North Indian voting and also, he believes there is no problem in vote transfer given that he always maintained cordial relationship with the TDP.
Also, JD Lakshminarayana is contesting from here. If he can divide the voters of TDP+, YSR Congress believes its work will become easy.
Coming to the Vishakapatnam Parliament, Sri Bharath of TDP is clearly ahead.
