Andhra Pradesh managed to get two places in the 20 smart cities list that were announced by Union Urban Development Ministry the other day while Telangana drew a blank in the last. The political blame game intensified on the issue as GHMC elections are round corner.

But what is that happened really? Center had put a challenge to the list of the cities initially charted out for Smart cities. The local administration in those cities were asked to come up with the plans of development as smart cities under several parameters.
The presentations that are submitted are evaluated and ranked. Telangana could not find place in the list due to poor presentation. So in reality, Telangana government can only blame itself in missing out of this project.
