Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had started the five day, Aayutha Maha Chandi Yagam the other day. This is a yagam not performed by any one in the last 200 years except Srungeri Matam. The reason for not performing the Yagam is that even a small mistake during this Yagam can anger the goddess.

It is said that the Yaagam is nearly as powerful as Rajasuya Yagam done by Yudhishtira. This Yagam was first mentioned in Markandeya Puranam. According to that, if 10,000 times Durga Shaphtasati and Yaga Vakshari are recited Durga transforms into Chandi.
When Durga transforms into Chandi. in ferocious state, the goddess will grant whatever wishes are asked. So even politicians are afraid to speak against this Yagam. It is said that KCR is doing this Yagam to become invincible in Telangana Politics.
