The fate of State IT and Heavy Industries Minister Gudivada Amarnath in the upcoming elections appears uncertain as he has not been allotted any constituency in the combined Visakhapatnam district.
YSRCP Coordinator YV Subba Reddy has mentioned that the party has completed its list of candidates in Visakhapatnam district, excluding one or two segments.
However, Minister Amarnath has not been assigned any constituency, leading to concerns among his followers.
Amarnath’s political standing has been affected by various factors, including his formation of a separate party in the Amar constituency (Anakapalli) after assuming the position of minister.
Allegations related to land affairs and appointments in REC have also contributed to a decline in support.
Despite customary honors given to those who hold positions in the party, Amarnath has not received significant recognition within his own community.
It is reported that Amarnath himself proposed a change in his segment from Anakapalli during the candidate finalization process.
A survey was conducted regarding his potential candidacy in Pendurthi, Yelamanchili, and Chodavaram constituencies. However, strong opposition from the MLAs in Chodavaram and Yelamanchili resulted in no finalized seat for Amarnath.
His attempt to contest from Anakapalli also faced resistance, with sitting MLA Kannababuraju expressing opposition.
With limited options and facing opposition from key constituencies, Amarnath’s followers suggest that the administration is considering fielding him as an MP from Anakapalli.
The situation is seen as critical for Amarnath, with some attributing his predicament to loose talk and decisions made during his tenure as a minister.
