Even though Hyderabad was decided to be the joint capital of both Telugu states till 2024, AP’s then Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu shifted the capital to Amaravati in 2015. He set up the all administration offices in Amaravati and continued his governance from there.

The CID office in Lakdikapul and the Heritage Complex in Adarsh Nagar continue to serve the governance purposes of Andhra Pradesh even now. All three mentioned buildings are currently being used by the AP government.

A couple of months ago, the Telangana government under the leadership of CM Revanth Reddy, asked the AP government to vacate these buildings as the tenure of Hyderabad being common capital is going to end.

However, the AP government sought some more time to vacate these buildings. Until now, the Telangana government didn’t respond to this request due to the General Elections.

As the counting will be held tomorrow and the election process will conclude in a couple of days, we need to see what decision Revanth Reddy will make regarding this request.
