Yatra 2, the biopic of AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was released in the theaters the other day. The movie is a complete political propaganda whitewashing Jagan Mohan Reddy and mudslinging his opponents.
Even Jagan’s sister, Sharmila was completely omitted from the film even though she played a very crucial role in YSR Congress when Jagan went to jail.
It is interesting to note that both Yatra and Yatra 2 were released just before the elections of 2019 and 2024 respectively.
Yatra played a little role in Jagan’s victory with its propaganda content.
But then, Yatra 2’s first-day collections are not even half of Yatra’s.
That is a reflection of the mood of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s supporters and the general public before the elections.
Clearly, people were not interested in watching the film.
On both occasions, YSR Congress leaders spent money to arrange special shows and free tickets for the public. But then, not sure of winning 2024, the spending may not be as much as it was in 2019.
The initial enthusiasm and how little it may vanished after Day 1 and the occupancies from Day 2 are abysmally low.
Probably, this is an indication of what is in store for the YSR Congress in 2024.
