West Godavari district led the race in giving decisive mandate for TDP in the last elections. The party managed to win all the 15 seats in the district giving a big shock to YSR Congress. The opposition party barely recovered from the shock and is still in shambles there. But the party has got a big shock yet again.

The district President Kothapalli Subbarayudu is quitting the party and is joining TDP. Subbarayudu previously is in TDP and worked as Minister in NTR and Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet. He later went to Praja Rajyam and later contested in by-elections as Congress candidate and managed to win.
Further he quit Congress and joined YSR Congress. He lost the last elections on YSR Congress and is now coming back to TDP. We have already seen 17 MLAs of YSR Congress Party joining TDP, Subbarayudu’s quitting will further hurt the opposition party. With Rajya Sabha elections nearing, more YSRCP MLAs are expected to join TDP very soon.
