Jagan’s AP: Prohibition To 10.5 Cr Per Hour

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy

Despite Chief Minister Jagan’s promise to gradually ban alcohol, his government set a record in liquor sales during New Year celebrations. The government permitted sales until 1 AM at midnight, contradicting the proclaimed aim to discourage drinking.

On December 31st, a single-day record of Rs. 147 crore worth of liquor was sold, surpassing the previous year’s Rs. 142 crore. Additionally, more than Rs. 5 crore worth of liquor was sold. The government extended sales beyond prescribed hours, totaling 14 hours, with an hourly average of Rs. 10.50 crores.

This contradicts the government’s goal of reducing alcohol consumption and raises questions about its revenue-driven approach.
