Leo USA: Unexpected Setback

Big-budget films and last-minute content delays often go hand in hand, and these delays can cause sleepless nights for the buyers who work tirelessly to schedule a large number of shows well in advance. The exact situation is now unfolding with Leo in the U.S.

As previously reported, U.S. distributor Prathyangira Cinemas had aggressively planned a massive release well in advance, resulting in nearly one million pre-sales (so-far). However, a significant setback has just occurred.

Due to content delays, theaters have started canceling LEO IMAX shows because the copies are not yet ready. This poses a significant challenge for the distributor, involving the management of refunds, theater coordination, and more.

The cancellation of IMAX screens will also impact the premiere numbers. According to unofficial tracking reports, approximately $200K in pre-sales has been sold for IMAX premiere show tickets, and refunding such a substantial amount would be a nightmare.

For now, regular format shows are unaffected, and no issues have been reported.
